my brain on theatre...........

This is my brain on theatre (actually it's the ceiling of a coffee house where I was having a break with one of my actors and I'm sure he thought I was off my nut because I just kept shooting pictures while we were talking - geez, could I just PLEASE put away the camera!)- I'm three weeks away from opening this show and as usual, most of the drama is happening off stage! Will not bore any of you with off stage egos and goings on! Unfortunately, this is the sort of thing that zaps creative energy away from the work on stage where it really needs to be!, but alas, comes with the territory I guess! That's my calendar on top of my script folder that has set design notes, blocking notes, sizes for costumes, etc. I see two video tapes waiting to be downloaded for a project I should have had done at the beginning of January. A movie from netflix is peaking out from under the clutter. Maybe tonight. I'm actually in my studio all day today finishing work that needs to be hung at the gallery tomorrow for Lisa's and my show! coming up next Saturday!

Since making visual art has been put on the back burner until opening night, I include this photo of the theatre walls with the blue that will be the final color choice with airbrushed clouds all over it!
Will be back later this week to post pics of our art show! Happy art everyone!

I can see what you meant in your Comment at mine about keeping up with things, Jeane! What a lot of variety in your life - this all looks very interesting indeed.

(Hooray - I can also access your films in the side bar now! Just watched your night drive).

I'm really looking forward to seeing your art show.

Jeane...all this and an "art show" too...you are on the move girl!
LOL at the thought of you taking pics while chatting to someone in a cafe :) We are so good at "multi tasking" arn't we :)
Great pic of the ceiling, by the way...it has that industrial feel to it.
Jeane the pic of the theatre walls, is wild! I love it...great abstract shot!!!
All the very best to you and Lisa for your show...would love to be there :(
...will be in spirit :)

Your job sounds like it would be so much fun... and also stressful at times. What is the play you're directing? That wall looks like a painting in inself :)

(ps tea or coffee would be so much fun this summer... if you don't mind my entourage - kids and grandma!! :)
Your show also looks like it's gonna be great. You are a busy woman!

Hi Raph - I love variety, but I also like to fall into a rut - both ways suit me...

Jo - this camera thing is nutso - I took a little video in the grocery story the other day as I was wheeling my cart down the isle! what is up with that?! - the nuttiest part of this whole thing is when I download the pics I'm actully thinking, wow, that's a cool pic of the cereal isle, or fab! I got the dog looking out the car window just in time - stuff like that - I gotta get a grip on this camera thingy...

Hi Brenda - well the job is fun sometimes, but mostly it's a huge amount of work - isn't the wall just great? - I know when I get to rehearsal Monday, it will be the backdrop to another world - how cool to sit down with one of my favorite artists (you of course) and have a cup of something, with full entrouge - definitely a date!

I'm telling you Willow, it's crazy - the camera thingy - love your new pic!

thanks Mary Ann - oh what pieces are you drooling over - the wrapped figures? - they are wrapped in muslin, then I stained the muslin and dipped them in bees bax and then painted them - the one frame is wrapped in muslin also and stained

P&E - I wish you could too - well, actually, maybe not these three plays - they are new plays by pretty green playwright's, so lack real complexities - for anyone reading this, be sure to check out Pamela's blog and read her latest post - it's just wonderful, well again, actully, all her posts are just wonderful

Good luck with your theatre production Jeane... you sound so busy (and yet you can still find time for photos that interest your artistic soul).
Good luck with your upcoming exhibition, would love to be coming along!

The last shot is particularly stunning!

Well, I have to admit to finding consolation in knowing I'm not the only one to have made a spectacle of myself by shooting pictures of ductwork!

Oh the angst that accompanies any theatre project, no matter what your role (figuratively) is in the production. Goes with the territory I guess - takes me back 50 years and more! All the best with everything.

Don't ever put that camera away!
The "blue" is heaven..and Netflix.....from 2005, French-"Cache", so good.
Happy art, to you too!

Jacky - thanks so much - I'm very easily distracted by colors and shapes so the camera seems the best way to deal with it - my friends have become used to it!

Derrick - ya, new headers everywhere - I love the change ups - have a fabulous getaway!

oh Kate, you gotta love the pipes, don't you? and actually they are so 'Kate'

Hi Elizabeth - the back wall in theatre is the result of the last three shows and after the final set was struck, all these abstract shapes and colors

Cynjon LOL! - god, it's an epidemic!
my first trip to NY, I was with my best friend ML who was there on work related stuff, and I know I almost drove her insane snapping a pic at every step! besides me being slow and dragging all my worn out body parts and she in her dancer's body moving like all NYorker's (she's from NY) fast paced in fabulous heels!

Ann - you know then! - always more drama behind the scenes then on stage - don't know how I've lasted all these years in such a crazy world.

Lyn - LOL! will definitely add your recommendation to my list! okay, for anyone reading this, head over to Lyn's blog and read her pasta post! Lyn, I'm still drooling!

Thanks for your kind comment on my blog Jeane. Good luck with the art show - I love that red for the gallery walls on your earlier blog - so much more interesting than boring old white.

Hi Heather and welcome - the red is yummy isn't it - so glad you stopped by!

oh, Luisa, I think we've all gone a bit crazy documenting all parts of our lives, but it's so fun!

Robyn, thanks so much - and yes, I love the walls too - it's all painted over now - will have to take pics tomorrow at rehearsal - and if you are reading this?, stop by Robyn's blog to read all about 'Bug' the cutest little creature on earth!

oh, my mind can understand those pipes spreading out in directions, so much expression there!

Love what you're wrapping with wires on the sidebar, so so much... and your energy, its coming off your writing, infectious.

carry on!

Jeane said...

I know! Mary Ann - I wish I had painted it on canvas!

Lynne, unfortnately I have created a very itchy trigger finger on my camera - it's almost like 'fast draw'!

Mansuetude - I love what I'm wrapping with wires too! - I've wrapped a whole bunch of stuff and as soon as I can get back in my work space, I want to explore this idea!

Glad to know I am not alone taking crazy pics all the time! Mr. Boyfriend rolls his eyes constantly every time the camera comes out... I was taking pics the other day of a computer graveyard -I'll have to post them on my site.

I'm with Mary Ann - drooling over those new sculptures - FABulous!! and the painted studio wall looks Rothko-esque. Wish I had the time to work on all the different projects I wanted to - I envy that about you!

Leslie Avon Miller said...

The side bar, all wrapped up. So tantalizing!

Jeane said...

TPL - OMG! the eyeroll - I know it well! oh, please post the computer graveyard - almost an intentional installation! - will be posting soon on the wrapping thingy that has me exploring some things!

Hey Leslie! - wrapping, I know - my new exploration and I have to say, love the idea on your sidebar of the color red used like a spice!

Just love seeing your desk, your calendar, bits and pieces of these parts of your life. It makes me look at my desk, calendar, pens, etc.. what tools we use and how to make our lives happen.
