art lab....

That's basically what I've got going right now - an art lab - I'm spending time experimenting with different ways of working and working with different materials. These two pieces are both very much in process. They are both 300 lb cold pressed paper (scraps I found from another project) bees wax and oil. I have two other pieces that I am applying collage pieces on (gee what a surprise - one-a-day 10 minute collages). I'm finding these experiments fun, frustrating, interesting and informing.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Again, gotta love the marks, the darks and the divisions of space. How fun!

Hi Jeane, I have been enjoying a wee tour inside your blog and am loving it. I really enjoy these pieces, great depth of colour, and I love that my eye just keeps roaming to look at it all, great work!

Hi Jeane,

These look rather dark, brooding pieces! I think I prefer the lighter ochre colour in the second one. Glad you are enjoying all the experiments!

Jeanne, I have become a fan of your work through Leslie Avon Miller.

I love the painting mantra provided by Leslie here:

The marks
the darks and
divisions of space.

My hand is tapping out the rhythm. My eyes are closed as I visualize these components and absorb it into my third eye. I am singing in a low key, conscious of vibrations moving though my cheekbones.

As Dilbert said: There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.

good morning Pamela - thanks so much - they are pushing me :)

Hi Chewy - freeing?, yes! thanks - I've been watching your little zoo grow :)

good morning Leslie - a boatload of marks and my little boxes are back - have a great weekend :)

hello Zappha - this work is really informing me and I find that very good!

LOL! Lynne - that's okay, I love those words - thanks - I'm smiling :))))))))))

good morning Kate - thanks and actually, I squeeze time in everyday that it is reasonable - sometimes it's just not possible, but I'm better for excluding something else - these 10 minute collages are a good way to at least do 10 minutes a day :)

hello Kim and welcome - thanks so much and please come back -will see you on flicker!

alas Derrick, you are so right - afraid I'm in a broody time and I know how much you love color, but it will probably be a bit AWOL for awhile! god I even watched the film Tess last night - very long and broody - sigh

Hello Sapphire and thank you - I'm so glad you stopped by, please come again :)

Hey Robyn - I almost dread these experimental phases - they take so much energy - I make so much bad stuff, but that's what its all about - f-----g up in big ways - I did start a painting yesterday though which I didn't attach with and iron, wax or ripping up! see you on flicker (OMG)

good morning Carol - thank you so much! we all have the opportunity to create what is important to us and that doesn't always mean the rest of the world is on our train - dragging the rest of the world along can cause all sorts of confusion and blocks in our own journey :)

Hey I'm goin along with liking the second piece - a lot - gorgeous colors! Lynne's been obsessed with 'marks' as well. I'm liking all the connotations and directions that start from that one word.
smooches!

So whats the thing with Flickr?

Jeane said...

Hey Kathy! thanks - alot of these marks will disappear once I can go back into these pieces - they needed a b it of time, ya know! I'm heading over to your place to check on your world :)

Hey Jo! - you're right - work has been in a moody sort of place this past week- man these collages are addictive - I found myself actually starting to 'art' the thing this morning and yes, flickr! wild, but a good place to be I think!

Hi Leslie - flickr is a photo sharing site - it's huge and anyone who is an image addict (hmmmmmm) will find it nirvana! oh, and I opened an account :)

I love the darks and lights in these pieces, like they came right off the walls of nature, or the forest floor. Thank you so much for your lovely words on my last post. And it is a beautiful weekend! Roxanne

These 10 minute collages look so great!
And what fun,,,the challenge. Up Up and away you go,,,I love enlarging your work and discovering all the little nuances, the tiny little areas of marks not immediately seen, but so much a part of the whole.
Carry on Jeane,,it's a great adventure just to watch!

good morning Roxanne - thanks so much -hope you are enjoying every minute of this fabulous summer! :)

happy summer Babs - the collage thingy is an excellent discipline and as all things, it grows if it is nourished - always love seeing you here :)

Hi Lyn - like I said to Babs, things that are nourished grow into their own wonderful worlds - a little care each day and I reap the rewards - have you been to the Highline yet? it looks a fabulous place for you city folk - hope I can see it when I'm there in Nov. :)

These look great, Jeane. The bottom one looks so much like rock and fire, it seems like it might erupt lava.
