Monday in the studio......
It was hard, but I finally drug myself away from the computer long enough to mow the lawn, do the dishes and actually go into the studio and WORK! For someone like myself who is an 'image junkie', joining Flickr may not have been one of my best moves! My original intent was to have a place to show more of my work. Mary Ann Wakeley at A Creative Life, and also one of my favorite artists, made many mentions of flickr on her blog, so I thought, hmmmmmm - I'll give it a try. Yikes! Nirvana. I know myself, and the newness will wear off and I will become a sane human again, but until then, it's going to be a fight to turn the computer off and get on with my real life! As for the work I did today, here is a little sample - I've been photographing the insides of some of my practice books and having fun with the angles.
This photo turned out pretty interesting.
then I grabbed two pieces I have been working on and worked some more. This one was in my last post and I made some progress, but still a ways to go.
This last one is starting to form and I'm liking the shapes that are coming. Happy Monday to all and I dare you to check out flickr! Guess where I'm headed :)

Loving your flickr connection! I like the work, the titles and the space to really see each piece. You seem to be well suited for the play at flickr and it shows! Having a fun summer!
I did go see your work Jeane - it was a nice way to see it - larger and all at once. I have spent many happy hours at Flickr. I spend time looking at photos of walls....
Nice work, Jeane. I would love to be turning the pages of your sketchbook. I love that right angle with the face and the bird.
scrumptiously scrummy :o)
Also enjoying your pinks. A yummy color.
LOVE the image thing! You GO girl!!
Love that middle piece Jeane. I have found some of my most potent inspiration on Flickr so I consider it time well spent. To say nothing of over half my art and meaning posts were found there!
Love these ...
I did join Flickr but have only uploaded a few pix .. I joined so I could add the pix I took at The High Line to its group .. if you are over there browsing I am FashionistaNY
good morning Mary Ann - I've been very good with my computer time restricting it to two sessions a day until now! yikes! I know it will wane and the inspiration is just manic right now, so time well spent I say - so glad your summer is being delicious and fun!
looking at walls? oh god, I'm in so much trouble, Leslie - a good wall can make me happy dance!
thanks Annie - I've been working with my camera and angles, so I'm glad you like it! :)
good morning Kate - thanks so much!
aren't the pinks interesting - so soft right now, but I feel some very harsh pink coming on :)
thanks Willow! :))))))))))))))))))
thanks Katherine - it's giving me fits - it's so not right yet - I get close, then, bam! I was almost there yesterday and then it was gone again!
thank goodness it's really wet so I can't mess with it today! geez! I'm always the last to know about good stuff - here everyone has beeen, gone, and done flickr and now my turn :)
thanks Daryl - oooo, I would think flickr would be fabulous for you and your amazing photos! I'll check you out! like I need an excuse to head there!
I was so happy to see you on flickr but I sure know what you mean about being glued to the computer. I have now learned to 'walk away'. You will find you make many wonderful new connections with people there and often they become your best critics to help you always move forward with your work. I am absolutely loving your body of work.
Not a chance - I can barely get any work done as it is. Taunting me with yet another diversion - you dastardly person you.
Really wishing I was in person with these - they're so tactile. Especially want to touch #3, hmmm #2 as well. Basically just want to run my hands over all of them.
So here I am - resisting the Flickr urge.
smooches!
Ooh! I really like the first image and actually bought something a teeny bit like it from another blog friend, Albglinka.
I am back from my life-imposed break from blogland. I still need a week to write the wedding ceremony for my niece, who is getting married in about 3 weeks, but then I hope to get more into the swing of commenting and posting again.
Jeane...l felt the same when l first discovered flickr...it's truly fantastic. I just ordered "adsl2" which makes my computer "zoom", so youtube here l come. Is that pink l see :) nice!
These shots are great. Love the look of the first one.
Hello Zappha - you are so right! looking forward to making those connections and I will be able to walk away from the computer! thanks so much for your kind comments here and on flickr :)
LOL! Kathy - so many ways to be distracted and then I get over it because I miss the extra time painting which doesn't make for a very nice me :)
Hi Sidney! - breaks are good! they give us perspective and we can refuel - how wonderful to write your niece's wedding vows - thanks for coming by ......
oh dear! uTube! another place where time is forgotten - never heard of the sort of 'zoom' you got for your computer - maybe it's just an Aussie thingy and yes! it is pink - I've just been in the mood lately - I like this soft pink right now xxo
thanks Seth - oh, the little book - I'm into angles right now and I particularly liked this angle of the book propped open.....
Hi Jeane,
Yikes! I was away at the weekend and so haven't seen the collage you dedicated to me!!! How can I get to see it? I notice you haven't put any of those on flickr!
Your second piece now seems to have a large closed eyelid featuring.
LOL..Jeane you make me laugh. Leslie looks at walls over at Flickr...and I look at doors...and locks...the older the better. Do you know how many door groups there are? Assemblage groups, collage groups, interior decor groups, found object groups, Cabinet of Curiosity groups....ok, now you know how much time I spend over at Flickr.
I like that Flickr presents a larger grouping of photos all at once.
Did you know that all photos you post on Blogger go to another web photo album? Picassa. Where you can also sort by albums.
Now I have facebook for connections with my family, uncle, brothers, many cousins, etc... I am spending too much time on the computer, when I should be painting. (chuckle)
If we're making confessions, I'm a shadow freak.
I also love walls~broken and crumbling are best, and doors~ partly open, and cracked pavement and archways.
But I generally stay away from Flickr, except to upload and download. Too dangerous.
I love that middle piece: It's like a tenuous bridge over an abyss.
wonderful, awesome work, Jeane. see ya back at the show :-)
p.s. i'm so glad you're there !! x
hello Derrick! -it's up!
OMG! it's worse then I thought Robyn - walls, doors, decor, oh god, I'm lost!
Serious?! Chewy? - no I didn't know, but of course I'm sure I read that at one time - will have to check it out - oh dear - I did facebook for two days, nearly had a nervous breakdown with all the friend requests, pokes, crushes, etc. - I only open it about once a month to check out pictures of my family :)
oh Carol, you are a better woman then I am - and I love all the things you list :) thanks about the second piece - I can finally get back in my workspace tomorrow, so am anxious to work on it some more!
hello Mary Ann - thanks - I just did an audible gasp when you blog page downloaded - that new piece is just gorgeous! and complex! xo
Great textural quality.x
wonderful colors and quite moving... can't get enough of the textures!
Hi Jeane,
THANKS! For the mention and the collage. It certainly is colourful. Is that because you see me as 'Red for Danger'?! I also notice the reference to selling.
I like No.9 too.
Glad to see your work and find your blog. I'll be back to read more, but I do need to limit the computer time. Really enjoying what you are putting together.
Kayla coo - welcome and thank you :)
thank you so much Lollynecks and welcome - please come again.
good morning Derrick and yes! "red for danger"! how insightful you are :)))))))) and yes again, anything on flickr is up for sale unless of course it is already sold - I'm working on my website which will have my work for sale - hopefully up in the next couple of weeks.
hello Maggie and welcome - I'm so glad you stopped by - come again :)
it's wonderful!
Lovely to see your work again jeanne,
I have used flickr for ever it is quite great for research as well as inspiration.
I find it really difficult to tear myself away from the computer to do other work so I constantly have to make decisions
"What will I play at today?" There still is insufficient time
Hello Costanza and welcome - thanks so much :) and please come again!
hello Janette - it's good to see you again - and you are right, never enough time, but as long as I make the time to do my art, all the other things will get done with a lighter heart :)
