And of course the work. I finished this painting last week. Two more are underway. This is the best of times. Have a fabulous week everyone!

time.......
Has it been minutes, hours, days? a month? Yes, it has! That's how I measure time in the summer. As a surprise. Long days, summer heat, steamy rainstorms, time with family, time for nothing. It all appeals to me on a very high level. After my morning coffee/computer time, a work out, a bit of something domestic, then I head for my studio. I place the little 9$ fan Jim and I bought a few summers ago, in a drawer I pull out of my tool box right behind me, turn it on and then I paint. I fall into the work. Time disappears. It's hot and my Pellagrino goes warm. The half eaten apple starts to turn brown. My hands, arms, and legs are dotted with paint and it mixes with sweat. Then I'm pulled out of the work. The flow has stopped and I need to re-access. Mmmmmm. Not bad. It's forming. I have to stop. My energy for the work is used. On the days I have to do the thousand errands or other things, I'm always thinking about what waits for me in my workspace. This is what summer is for me. It's also a time for grazing on wild berries.
These are the little blackberries. Jim and I wait for these all year.
And of course the work. I finished this painting last week. Two more are underway. This is the best of times. Have a fabulous week everyone!

I love your work ( and your stories)....You are the first painter I've seen who is where I'm trying to go. Does that make sense? I am going to spend a lot of time looking at each of your paintings, and the wip. Thanks for being here ....I'll definitely bookmark your site.
Sounds like good times are being had - I'm with you on the wild berries. Picked some lovely bilberries (like a blueberry) while sitting on a Welsh mountain the other week.
nice work...wild berries are good
Wonderful painting. I LOVE the name Magellan's Right Turn!!!
hello Deborah and welcome - well, actually I'm not too sure what you mean - I'm a bit dense sometimes, but I would love to hear in a bit more detail where you are going or want to go - I don't think you would have wanted to be working in my studio today - I did nothing right - much wiping out and restarting and wiping and mucking and wiping and mudding - I finally left it in a pretty good space - so glad you stopped by and please come again :)
OMG! Annie - wild berries - Jim and I slog our way through our morning walks no matter what the weather and look forward each year to our reward! grazing on wild berries all sweet and juicy from the sun - yum!
Hi Wayne - so glad you decided to stop by - welcome - yes, wild berries - a fabulous treat! - please come again :)
hello Willow - thank you - I'm on an explorer kick right now - mapping, lots of mapping - learning about the early explorers was one of my favorite things in grade school :)
Your work I always love. The summer is the best for berries and all the fruit. Have a good week.
i love the way you say you 'fall' into your work. i can see you do. and thimble berries - i never heard of them they sound so sweet. i am so pleased you are so happy in your work......it shows.
Hi Jeane,
I was wondering what a Pellagrino is but imagine it's a cold drink/mineral water? You'll have to get a mini fridge in your studio! Hope the wild berries keep you going.
heaven - sweet berries, inspiring beautiful work, long summer days.
That's about as good as it can get, n'est-ce pas?
Katelen, always good to see you here - thank you so much :)
Kate, I am happy - summer is my best time :))))
a mini fridge - it would have to be mini, that's for sure - the shed is at maximum capacity right now and it's a nice change for things to go warm - most times I'm bundled and sitting in front of the little heater - I'll take the fan any day - and you are right, bottled water, thanks Derrick :)))))
Kathy, that's right! about as good as it gets! not a neck scarf in sight! straight on til morning! :)))
this looks great .. as does the header painting... makes my mouth water!
I need a thimbleberry right this minute......
Thanks for this "pick-me-up" Jeane.
Warm weather, berries and art :)
You don't need to know I'm freezing here!
It's nice to know how you organize your days Jeane! I like the Magellan painting, and it's title too. Berries are my kind of food ... (Especially with custard - and pastry!).
I visited your new website in between tours the other day - fabulous! I'm going for another visit ...
of all my favorite memories its finding and hunting wild blackberry thickets with my brother as a kid... still my favorite; thanks for the reminder. Your communicating what you go through, the sweat on your arm and paint specks, wonderful! A big happy YES to you!
We are picking the blackberries and putting them on our evening salads. Yum! What a good berry year this is. Love your current work and the good energy you have going!
A glorious time, summer.
There are wild blackberries near the lake place, but someone always beats us to them.
And this work: As always,I'm enlarging, taking it all in.
Little nooks and crannies of surprise color, lines and crevices,,,and the darks. Oh! you make the yummy-est darks!
Of course it never hurts my feelings that your color choices are earth tones,,,my faves.
thanks Daryl! - I think the header is under this piece :)
indeed you do Elizabeth! they are just the best!
you're very welcome Jo and I'm sure you will return the favor when we switch seasons! - I'll be freezing and you'll be eating the wild berries! xxo
hello Raph! it's so good to see you here - I know how busy you are! the website was worth all the work - thanks so much - oh my, berries with custard and pastry - that must be a bit of heaven - :)))))
thank you Mansuetude - a big happy YES is a wonderful thing to receive! maybe that is one of the things Jim and I love about the wild berries - brings back memories of our childhoods :))
Leslie, you guys have much more restraint then I do - I can't wait until the dinner salad! I have berry stains on all my clothes, on my mouth and hands by the time we get home! ha! and yes, good energy here! hope the same where you are...
I agree Babs, a glorious time summer!! - the darks - dark must be rich and have all the colors - reds, blues, browns, yellows - then it is alive :)) at least that is what I think :))
Your description of summer is wonderful...I especially love going to the studio part. The time alone and working shows in the new pieces...they feel evolved, complete.
What a berry world you live in! The thimble berries must be sensational...I'm a fan of berries with yogurt and honey.
Something new and interesting starting in the sidebar?
For me your paintings seem to have "eyes"..or some sort of opening into which I can sink..always inviting..
Followed you on your routine, could even feel the temperature, it's all so well described..
Vasco da Gama, Magellan ~ you are exploring the canvas as they explored the seas. They ventured into uncharted territory, and your work has that look and feel, as if you have recently returned from a journey within your being and have now presented us with the “map” of the terrain.
Entrancing, as usual, Jeane.
Wonderful post - and I have missed visiting, through my own negligence.
Your work is really evolving into something unique, personal, and beautiful. Really elegant and "solemn" at the same time. I mean that in a good way. It has gravitas!
I look in a lot & am never disappointed.
thank you Mary Ann - this little series is evolving after a huge struggle, so I'm happy that I'm getting some positive results, but that's the way isn't it - mmm, berries, yogurt and honey - pure nectar :)
hi Lyn - 'eyes' - I love that idea - it's a heat wave here, but sweating in the studio or house, I choose the studio and the good thing is that the paint is easier to handle :) gotta find the good!
thank you Carol - I loved studying the explores when I was a little girl in grade school and so the mapping in these pieces seems like such a good hook up - you're right - it's all exploration :)
Nice to see you here Ann - welcome back :)
Hi Marie - thank you so much - I had to look up 'gravaitas' - I learned a new word! I love that! it is evolving;, true - I have two different series emerging - it's all very fascinating to me how showing up each day, good or bad, produces results eventually - so glad you left a comment :)
Never heard of thinble berries....but I would love one right now!
Such beautiful summer days... Roxanne
