new favorite thing......

I was taking a break yesterday afternoon, munching my apple slices and peanut butter (yum!) and cruising some of my favorite blogs - I landed on Annie Kerr's blog, Inkhaven and noticed she had a link to her myspace page - I clicked and BAM! - there was another side to this amazingly talented woman - I knew she was an excellent writer, a passionate gardner and took gorgeous photos, but what I didn't know? she is also a violinist! I cruised to her music player and started listening to her music - love at first listen - I couldn't get an email off to her fast enough to please! ship me a CD - there was a little note on her myspace page that said she had a few left - oh please god, let there still be ONE! - I heard from her this morning - my CD will be winging its way here tomorrow - I'm so Happy! check out her music here! Thank you Annie!

Other, not as exciting news, from here - have been painting again - have put the Winter Series away until I get back from Southampton - just the painting allows me to let my mind go, but the collaging takes more focused energy that I can't give right now - below is a painting I did a couple of days ago - I'm so back into my palette, I can't believe it!

this is mixed media on paper titled "The Way There" - the weekend is on it's way, have the best one ever everyone!

Thank you for the link to Annie's Myspace. I visited and was enthralled by her music. She's spectacular. This is paintin' music, yes? Or, meditating, or thinking about working...

And, your "The Way There" is particularly stunning. I love how the darks and shapes travel through the middle and then move forward to the right.

Have a great weekend too!

Hi Jeane. Thanks so much for linking to my myspace page and my blog. I'm just so happy to hear that you'll be listening as you paint, as I often imagine I'm painting gestures and doodles in sound as I play them. I made the album as a fun project and it sounds like the fun is still running! Thanks again. Ax

thanks for sharing about Annie!

your work is wonderfully deep as always, and it will be interesting to think of you and Annie weaving away from vibrations of sound to paint actions.

good morning Brenda - well, Annie's music really does it for me, that's for sure - love the wood cuts you have been doing :)

Hi Betsy, thank you - this palette seems to be mine after years of trying all different kinds, I always come back to this - keeps re-suppling paint very easy :)

Wonderful, wonderful music!
Thanks Jeane.
Love your palette,,,your color choices are often very similar to mine, and you use them so well!

speaking about palette, Jeane, what are the colors you used in the april 10 post? Specifically the cream... how did you get it? Are you using naples yellow? I'm doing an order of paint soon and am dying to know.

good morning Babs! isn't Annie's music just wonderful?!! Can't wait until my CD arrives - yes, we do have very similar color palettes, however I think you bust out the color more often then I do :)

hmmmmmm, well, the creamy color? honestly Shayla, it's really hard for me to know how I get any color because I paint wet on wet which produces colors that I'm always surprised with - the cream could have been made by white, yellow and raw umber and then white oil pastel worked in while it was wet - sorry, but that's the closest I can get - I never mix colors ahead - it's just a mish mash of layers and layers :)

Thanks Jeane. It was alchemy. I'll see what I can cook up :)
