finding my place....

One of the most difficult things to do is go back into the studio after an absence, for whatever reason, and begin the work again. It has been almost two weeks since I actually painted and nearly four weeks since I have worked in my own space - finding my place again was a real challenge this afternoon - I'm still very tired and playing a huge game of catch up, but I really needed to get back to work - so in I went - puttered around a bit and then I just had to start - paper was the nearest, so clip, clip onto my working piece of cardboard, ink, ink, mark, mark, brush paint and then turn the piece - do it again! and again! and on and on - I disappeared for about two hours and this was the final result - whew!

this is mixed media on paper 24x17 - hope you are all gearing up for a wonderful holiday weekend!

Hi Jeane -

Congratulations! I just nominated you for a Kreative Blogger award. There are 7 obligations, not very awful ones, that come with the award. You can find them on my site (latefruit.wordpress.com.

yes, after an absence familiar friends can start to act like strangers ... the easy handshake with the brushes isn't quite there and those shy inks keep hiding under the rags

but how does one eat an elephant? one spoonful at a time ... your great description of process gave me a real sense of your spoons at work .. and result? this wonderful evocative dark confection!

your new header made me think wow, and of old tourtured maps that want to bring themselves to life.

but now this... i think you were "working" my dear girl, while away from performing in action; don't you?

hanging upside down, to get a good head rush, and a new view! :)

enjoy your weekend

Oh...what a beautiful end to what seemed like a difficult beginning for you...it is a fabulous work! Sometimes, just starting is the most difficult thing, a perfect example of perseverance and just "putting on foot in front of the other" so to speak....something I have to remind myself quite often :o)
Welcome back,
Cynthia

Sometimes when I'm absent from the studio I find on return it takes a while to get back in the swing, but WOW, you go back in and do this in a couple of hours. Marvelous work! Nice variety of shapes, value and line in this very organic composition. I find it compelling.

good morning Stan - thank you so much! still working my way back in and a bit of a bumpy ride :)
