Sometimes, just when you think you have it right, you don't. I finished this piece a few days ago, but every time I walked into my work space, something about it just wasn't working for me - I know I've talked about this before and just posted about the importance of editing, so this is ANOTHER good example of pushing it a bit more - now some of you will like it at the first place I stopped, and others will agree with me about it working better now - but the final decision has to be with me - I've learned I really have to be true to myself, so.......

a few days ago, and.......

today - this new rework really satisfies me - I like the muted quality - it all works for me now and hits my gut in the right way. I have two more large pieces in progress and the header is one of them. Whew! Glad to see some of the pink gone!

i know very well this sensation .
i agree with you, who knows best...and i'm liking the groundedness/earthierness of the final...out old pink!!
You, the editor HAS to have the final say.
And I like how you said it.
Now as for that header:
OMG I hope you don't TOUCH it!
(unless of course you have to, sigh)
Sky rockets at night,,,,,omigosh, I love it Jeane!
(touch it lightly, please)
:-)
Hi Jeane,
Well, in the bottom right of the first image I see a man's face in shadow, so I'm glad to see it's still there, if a little different, in the final work - even though you've turned it upside down!
I love the brilliance of the rockets in the header too!
good morning Caio, oh, man, I'm sure you do :)
hello Neva - thank you, yes, we are our final word :)
LOL! Babs! too funny, well, the header piece has been touch and retouched and I'm afraid not lightly! :)
Hi Derrick - it's so funny, because I never see anything in my work, like a man's face, unless it's a figure - I only see the journey and the crumbs I've dropped along the way to find my way back :)
What you say, Jeane, about being true to yourself..it is the only thing that works..yet I see much in both.
And the header is so mysterious, like the forest of souls in Avatar.
You said it best! It's a tough business this reworking. I always forget to look at your pieces turned...when I do I see where you were coming from and where you ended...and beautifully too!
I know about the pink...right now I have some strange lavender and yellow?
Your art ROCKS! I swoon!!!
Wow - your header is playing music to me! I just love it. Will be interested to see and hear the next variation.
Good for you for trusting your gut. That is the main thing. BTW, I like it better now as well.
Oh, yes, I have been right there so many times! You think the piece is finished, but it just keeps nagging at you; every time you look at it you become more and more sure that it needs something- but what? I think you resolved it beautifully; I agree that it works much better the second time. gorgeous piece!
good morning Lyn - thank you! mmmm, I haven't seen Avatar yet - I know, I'm probably the only person on the planet that hasn't seen it - I'm always a bit behind xxo
Hi Mary Ann - pink just seemed to be everywhere here for awhile, but it has finally mellowed out a bit, thank god! lavender and yellow?, serious!
thank you Linda Sue!
oh thank you Shayla, I'm glad you like it better too! :)
thank you Sharmon, I'm glad you think so too :)
Yes, there is something about the process that insists on authenticity and resonance with one's core.
You keep walking that path and your work is like a signpost of this beautiful journey.
I see what you mean.
loving the entire make over,
the deep chocolate stillness
and the pare down
not only of the blog, but the piece as well..
If you didn't stay true to yourself it would niggle and niggle and gnaw away at you. I do enjoy that feeling when it all comes together and the gnawing goes away. The new rework gets my vote too!
good morning Melinda, you say it so well - everyday we are different and the work needs to reflect that xxo
Hi Denise, thank you - I've been going to email and tell you that some gorilla knits have been showing up in our little town and I also saw one up in Southampton Ontario when I was there - very exciting :)
hello Robyn and yes, that niggling - another painting that I thought was finished a couple of weeks ago is going to get reworked today xxo
I like to be reminded that it is MY decision and you are the one who always does that SO well.
PS-So what is your problem with pink?
good morning Carol - pink?, well, for a bit it was just overwhelming the amount of it here - I truly love pink in all shades, but a bit goes a long way - feeling more comfortable here now xxo
This is the same painting? What a grand reworking! Usually I can find the first within the reworked....i do like the resonance of this final piece. You seem very true to yourself; I'm glad to have run into you and your art.
