baby stepping....

That's what I'm doing. Baby Stepping my way back into the studio. Like so many of you, I'm sure, studio time has been limited. The holidays were wonderful and I wouldn't trade a single day, but the desire to work has been put on a back shelf until the last couple of days. Yesterday I was able to work for a little while. Grabbed a painting on paper that no longer resonated with me and started that deconstruction process that lets me find my place again. The work was not tentative by any means. Layer after layer after layer........enjoying the transformations taking place - this, no that, yes much more of this, and that, and here just a bit, banish that section, shape this corner, more red under the brown, oil pastel very heavy, scrape the center out, define the new shape, layer, more red and then the time was up..........below are pics of details in the work.........nothing permanent yet - flexing my muscles - mapping my time - looking for the edge to push......

hope you are finding life good as we head into the new year.

Your system works wonderfully well for you. I see something in your header that reminds me of a seascape..a bit of Turner..can you see it? No matter..I love it!!

Jeane, your deconstrucing is still a mystery to me but I'll work on it. I had a great teacher! I'm already lining up courses for next year.
Your work just gets better and better. I wait with anticipation for every new piece.

Oh Jeane, your baby steps have a lot of movement in them and I am liking the dance. yes, I am so looking forward to studio time again. I have been quite laid off of real studio time for a couple of months as i make crafts which really can bring in some money, but I so miss the discovery in finding my way through a painting. Something bigger for 2011; I am determined. Enjoy yourself and 2011!

New to your site. This piece is so savage and erotic. Love the way you dig until the primeval roars up. Very cool. Would love to see the whole piece when finished. Tina

good morning Lyn - that's it isn't it! that we each have our own personal system that works for us - it's key for personal expression and so worth the time spent in discovering individual processes xxo
