in between......
In the 'in between' - that's where I am right now - in between painting and painting - more clearly put, it's time to clear my head a bit - full on painting is exhausting as most of you know - so it seems to happen about the same time each year - January - it's now that I usually put down my paintbrushes and bring out all the bits and pieces that have accumulated over the past 11 months - assemblage always seems the way to go - it's a very random act - sorting, cutting, arranging old work in new ways - I painted on yupo last year to see how it would take oil paints - I pulled one of those paintings out and to my surprise, it was completely dry - it was not very good, so it got cut and sorted and then became my base - I started sewing all the bits on the back of the pieces I had cut up - it left wonderful stitch marks on the front of the painting so each day I ended up with two pages, front and back - I could sit quietly among the last 11 months and create visual diaries - I'm still working this way and I thought it would be fun to share a few of them - if you would like to see all six pages you can go here. Don't have a plan or purpose for this work right now - my head is clearing - that was the only plan - below are a few of the finished pages.

what a great idea. mixed media, recycling and what a wonderful new life for previously rejected work.
totally love the Motherwell quote. Who would have known that to look at his work!
Endlessly creative..who needs a plan when your talent is purely organic..whatever you do..I find surprising in the best way...keep going!
You may not have a plan but it is looking like a good one in the making.
all of the sudden i'm feeling like this too, jeane... well, one must go with it - what else can be done?!
love that thread showing through the wax paper (?). love it all, really...
xo
I simply ADORE this series!
Number 3 here is so very special. I'm getting an 'under the boardwalk' feeling about it.
Beautiful soft color in all. Well worth skipping over to your Flickr to see the whole lot.
Did you say on what surface these are mounted?
Wow!! Loved looking at the set on flickr. Seems like you've generated a new series. Now I'm imagining you setting them to one side, turning them around each time you pass.....
Jeane, Your creativity continues to awe and thrill me. I love the colors, textures, threads (!)....the new series is stunning!
this series is really exciting! I love the textures of the different papers, the stitching, the colors...
thank you Zendot - collaging bits of my life together in new patterns....:)
good morning Lyn, well you certainly nailed this one - completely organic - it's very calming for me - like putting one of those big puzzles together - xxo
hello Katelen, thank you so much :)
absolutely Lynnie - we must go with it - clearing last year out of the way and making room for all that is new! xxo
hi Babs, the surface is a cut up yupo painting - glad you like them :)
Hi Annie - actually that's exactly what I've been doing - playing with all the pieces together, in twos, etc - xxo
thank you Chris - it's a good way to see how much I stick to a certain palette no matter how many times I try different colors - it always comes back to these :)
thank you mano, so glad you like them :)
