evolution.....

The Catherine Person Gallery in Seattle is closing it's doors. I felt so honored to have my work there. It was one of those 'touchstones' in the evolution of my art practice. My work at a reputable gallery in a large city. Very satisfying. Many reasons for her to close her doors and I'm thrilled to say she will still be active in the art scene with her 'Art Advisory Services' - So what do I do now? I continue to paint, to knock on doors and continue my 'art practice' with the same intentions I've always had. Paint my journey. It's nothing more. I do have new things on the horizon and I'm excited about them. 'Skype' - I know many of you already have been using this brilliant format, but I just now got on board so that I can mentor other artists. This is such an exciting door for me to walk through. Video skype makes this possible from my little desk stuck in a closet in our home. Extremely cool! I'm gathering material to self publish a book of my art later in the year. Gigantic job. As my work is ever 'under construction', hard to nail down finished work. The photos below are the painting I showed you in progress in my last post. It's large and hard to photo and show the details, so the first shots are a few details and then the final piece. The weekend looms and I hope you all have amazing plans!

It is so exciting that you have all these goals. Whenever I passed that yellow brick building in SOUTH for the entire month of May, I missed your presence. So many fond memories. You inspired many artists when you were here.

Galleries are closing in Australia too... a sign of the times. But, one door closes and another opens. Good luck with your new venture. Those images are sooooo evocative.

These three details seem very powerful. I like them in their own right. But your post uses the word "evolving" so I'm guessing this might still be the start.....Enjoy Skype!

good morning Z! what a nice thing to say - it was a watershed time for me - I found out so much about myself during my time there - pros and cons - so thankful for that time xo

hello Jo, oh, it's a sad state of affairs for galleries for sure - so many closures in the past couple of years - also I believe access to the internet has changed the way people purchase - I do tons of my shopping and research before shopping online - there has been an explosion of personal galleries online where people are exhibiting and selling their work - etsy is a very good example - so I think things are changing - glad you stopped by :)

hello Annie, thank you - well, the evolving refers to my art practice as a whole - doors closing and I'm pushing open new ones - I could use a few lessons from you on how to use words better to get my points across :))) xo

It is exciting to hear where you are next headed to on your journey as an artist. And I am excited at the prospect of your book. I will look forward to that!

These plans you have shared here seem inspired Jeane, and so right for you.

I am honoured to have been a small part of your art journey and know I will be travelling with you for some time. You are an excellent travelling companion. You are completely forthright about what you see, and what you see is amazingly perceptive and helpful to whomever chooses to let your X-ray vision examine their art practice. You are also a lot of fun, and I can summon your grin in my mind's eye any time I want to.

If anyone can push those doors open, Jeane, you have the mental muscle to do it.

Watching and revelling in your revelations.
XO

good morning Seth, always new territory to discover for sure - book will be out quite a ways - I want to do some writing for it also, so a work in progress for the rest of the year probably xo

hello William - thank you - it's out quite a ways but in progress for sure :)

such wonderful things you say Carol -thank you - love the x-ray vision comment - geez! I know I can be brutal, but it just seems so important that people work to reach their full potential (albeit, that is a lifelong pursuit) and a kick in the butt is sometimes what it takes to shake things up, no? been watching things you have been up to and it's really wonderful to see you walking down the road that fits you so well xo
