BUT! it didn't feel like me - I had no feeling for it when I looked at it - a piece has to tell me something when I look at it and it just sort of sat there with a bunch of stuff I liked asking the question, "ya, so I have some good elements, but so what?". I got to work for a few hours today and I intended to work on a very large piece but instead I grabbed this little guy and started working.......I have learned that my work is more interesting to ME when it is more subtle - a bit more mysterious and not so much up front - now this little piece feels more honest - I have a connection to it now.....so important for me......
this is mixed media on board 12x12....I realize as I'm typing this that this is the first day of summer and it actually feels like it here today - warm, warm, warm outside and even a bit sticky in my workspace - I love that - we are almost midway through this week already and I'm still running as fast as I can to stay ahead - later.....

Your work is always so beautiful and full of depth.
I love both pieces but what I really love is your discernment, your intuitive sense that tells you when something is "authentically" you. This is what we are all aiming for. Thanks for sharing this process. I love that you are subtle and mysterious and know how to see that in your work!
