ado......

Can't believe we are about ready to cruise into the weekend! This week as been 'much ado' - summer is just that way - schedules get totally whacked - people want to socialize more - just hanging out seems okay and the right thing to do - and thank goodness I have learned something - being prepared! Prepared? yes - something I don't practice in most of my life, but have worked on as part of my art practice - it paid off this week and reinforced how baby steps translate and do count - I was with my bestest friend, Lis, early this week and she wanted to show me a new boutique that opened here locally - Very nice, very urban and savvy little shop - they are Modern + Vintage Seaside Luxe - Lis introduced me to the owner and she took us on a little tour and as I was looking around I thought, 'hmmm, my work would look good in here', so I asked if she was interested in artwork -
"Are you and artist?"
"Yes"
"Oh, really?"
"Yes, I have a card and you can check my website" (prepared - the website is THE best thing I have done for my art practice)
"Oh, is this your work?" (prepared - little cards from Moo showing my work)
"Yes" (prepared - pulled out my ipad and went to my website)
"Oh, I love these! (the moo cards) Here let me look at your website (with my ipad) while you look around. (She cruises the site) I would love to see some work."
So the story ends with my work in her very savvy boutique. Obviously, as we all know, this is not the huge hit, but a nice large step on the way and again reinforces that constantly showing up (in this case being prepared) pays off. I wasn't looking for this opportunity but I was prepared when I bumped into it. Very nice. The photo below is a painting I finished a while back.

this is mixed media on foam core - enjoy your weekend.

Great story about seizing the moment! And that's all we really can do, isn't it? Creating the art and placing it and then the rest happens independently of us. Sounds like a great match! Best of luck with the new venue. I bet your stuff will look great hanging there. Take a few pix for us!

And of course this piece is fabulous.

Congratulations.
That's a wonderful anecdote showing that it's the combo of opportunity and preparedness that allow things to happen.
And I love the painting. Enigmatic. Wonderful.

Yeh for you Jeane.....I believe that our own enthusiasm rubs off. You have fabulous energy, create wonderful art and have a marvelous warm personality .....how could they not want to share you with the world?? Remember every person knows and talks to seven people....the more we expose ourselves and our art to, the more we and the world benefit.....YOU GO GIRL....get that luscious art to that store NOW.......

Well done on the preparation. That seems to be my personal theme for the day. How to keep on track, focus, and not rush into things. Sometimes, it works, sometimes.....no. I do have business cards in my handbag but, now I wish I had an Ipad. That is a stroke of genius! And you are so right about the website. They are the best things any of us could have done! Happy weekend.

What a nice story with a happy ending. And all because you made the gesture. The rest took its course. A lesson for us all. Kudos.

well good morning Karin and welcome home! thank you so much and I love the idea of the ripple affect you describe! what a wonderful concept xo

hello Mary, yes, the website!the work is so worth it! the ipad has inadvertently become a fabulous tool for me and has paid for itself in ways I didn't expect! :)

Hi robin - I love a happy ending too! and yes, the gesture - so hard for me, but again, it has paid off more times then not - and of course there are the NOTS! lots of them! oodles and oodles of them, but pretty soon a yes will bounce our way, so nice :)
