bumpy week.......

Some days are just better then other days! It's just a fact! I had a week of days that could have been the 'better' kind - it's so tiring to bump into so many ways for things to go off track - sigh -  Friday has landed and it's the last day of summer - this makes me sad - I love summer - I like Fall, but I LOVE summer - fall is pretty and all that - when it's not raining or when there is not cloud cover, it's beautiful - but summer is way better!  I've been wearing boots already - I almost grabbed a scarf a couple of times, but I'll hold out until it's absolutely necessary - I did finish a painting this week, so I thought I would share that with you - this is mixed media on bristol paper, 19x24, Her Slip Was Showing......

I keep going back to this kind of paper - apparently it's my favorite - it's very durable and can take alot of punishment - and another thing I'm loving right now is Twyla Tharp's book, the Creative Habit - I highly recommend it - I had lunch with a friend this week ( one of the highlights) and she was talking about the book so when I got home I downloaded a copy to my ipad - I'm almost finished but it's one of those books you will go back to over and over - well that's pretty much it for now  - jump into the weekend everyone, it will be gone before you know it.

I love this piece! Amazing really that it is on paper! There is a richness to oil paint that just can't be duplicated in acrylics, I think??

Will check out the book. And I tried to look at your video but it says it's private when I click on it??

Ah yes, some days do just go sideways. And it's disconcerting to have a bunch in a row go that way. But to have such a wonderful piece of work at the end of a bumpy week kinda sweetens in all, don't ya think?

Here's to a better next week!

the title is so evocative! creamy! I like the description of a week as 'bumpy' - has made me think what word would describe my week of having a horrendous head cold which has left me drained - a 'draining' week perhaps or maybe a '3D' week (Draining, Disappointing and Downright miserable) but it has given me time to catch up with you and other bloggers as well as the whole 3 series of Spiral, plus Michael Ondaatje's latest book 'the cat's table' which is the positive side - but creativity has not been possible! Lovely to catch up with you Jeane

Forgot to say it's not possible to JUMP into the weekend my energy is so low so I'll ease myself in gently - enjoy yours!

Love your art! I've been thinking of buying the Twyla Tharp book for a while now - thanks for the final nudge.

I love winter - I love the moonlight on the barren trees and the crisp air. I love the smell of bread baking and having fire in the fireplace . . . where I live must influence this love - since I'm in GA, my winter is short . . .

Twilla Tharpe's book is one of my favorites. The ways she describes her creative thought processes is fascinating and so inspirational.

Your 'bumpy' week sure created a luscious piece!

good morning Amy, thank you so much! I'm so happy you found me :)

hello Zendot -thank you xo, and yes, oil paint does have a richness I was never able to get working with acrylic - I haven fallen in love with the process of working with oil - there are trade offs with both mediums and they both have things I really like, but working with oil has gone deep inside me - this week has hope pinned on its chest and I will embrace that xo

good morning Rosie, so nice to see you here! sigh, a 3D cold - ugh! sounds like you have made the most of it! hard to put a positive spin on being knocked up side the head with an awful cold, but looks like you did! you're on the other side now, hope you feel better TODAY! xo

Hi Bonnie, thank you - the Twyla Tharp book is a very good one to add to your 'getting my creative on' books - I'm a huge proponent of discipline in our art practices and she has some very good insight into that :)

hello Judy, thank you, you almost made me think I really like winter, but then I thought again - Ha! isn't it nice to have a fav season - your winter sounds very cozy and snuggly - mine is more about bracing against the elements and trying to work while wrapped in sweater, gloves and scarves! :)

I love the title of this one, Jeane. You're right about the re-reading of the Creative Habit. I'm getting different things out of it now from when I read it 2 years ago. It's cool to see how things have changed.

Love the non-color of this. Soft, soothing, but yet with a certain 'edginess'. Especially in the right center part.
Your titles always make me smile.

Here it is, Sunday already,,exactly 20 minutes ago it was Sunday. The weeks roll away too fast.
We've had some delicious weather, but have been back in the upper 90's the past 2 days.
Can't imagine a scarf,,,but I fear that time will come here much too quickly.
I love the Twyla book, even though I haven't had it out in a while, and also Bristol. A great multi purpose surface.

and it is .. way too fast ..

good morning Babs, thank you - isn't Bristol paper just the best - I paint hard and this material takes each new assult without the blink of an eye - I can even score it with a box cutter - it's a sweater and boot day here - the boots are for sloshing in the rain, sigh xo

it's like we are in a super sonic rapid fire jet that only slows down for a few ugly speed bumps along the way - hang on Daryl, we are going to look up some day and find ourselves in our nineties and won't know how we got there xo
