just the simplicty.......

There are so many materials I love to use when I'm working and each time my world goes upside down, I am reminded again what I really love the most is the simplicity of just painting.  It's pure joy moving a brush around a surface and falling into that intuitive zone.  When the realities of life rear their ugly heads and energy and focus take a hit, just painting does it every time for me.  A wonderful afternoon prepping new surfaces and puttering around in my workspace. Things seem to balance themselves out.  I finished the painting from the last post below.  It is oil on paper, 24x19, How Pain Enters.

I hope you are enjoying the weekend. Very stormy and gray here. When I look outside I see my palette.

And and thank you to my readers/commentors.  I know leaving a comment had become an ordeal and I'm thankful for your persistence.  I finally had enough energy to switch back to the old template until they get the bugs worked out.  Whew!

Looking at your painting I can feel myself dropping into that intuitive zone. Though it was painted while you were in pain I feel cocooned...... and that's why we make art! Hope you are feeling better every day.

Well! just when I'd (almost) gotten used to the new settings!
:-)
I am such an oldster in the brain department,,,I prefer the tried and true.
Adoring the finish to this painting,,and yes, I see you're painting away the pain. May it be gone super fast!
Funny,,,I just posted a painting I'd completed during pain also. Following a surgery.
So interesting how we paint our lives.

Oh, this is so beautiful. Intriguing and moody!

It reminds me of how things looked around here over the weekend--like your palette.

Hope you have a great week. I didn't mind the new template (only lost one comment), but love being able to see your work on a larger scale, singled out, with the old template.

p. s. Would you believe? The word verification is "conte."

This is brilliant! You're right - the colour palette is that of our outside here, too. But at the same time it has such an enigmatic feeling about it, hiding things in the background... Beautiful!

Jeane, you can find so much color and form in this minima palette..soothing yet mysterious. Glad to see you back to this easier to access template.

Ha! Babs, so funny - I know, the new design I loved, but to rudely dismiss people's comments when they take time to stop by just couldn't continue - I saw the painting you did while recovering from surgery - gorgeous! so glad you came by xo

good morning Melinda and thank you so much! oh, I hope you had a very successful open studio! with people loving your work and snacking on prickly pear treats - oh, dear, I hope I have the right treat, xo
conte, one of the first materials I tried back in the day...

Hi Susan, thank you - yes, hiding things, we are so good at that in life aren't we, thanks for coming by :)

oh, I'm glad this template is easier for you Maggie and thank you - today I feel a bit of gold in the palette as we have sun here today and it is reflecting of the remaining fall leaves - very cold! xo

hello Lyn, yes, grays yesterday and today golds and stark low light, thank you, so glad you stopped by xo
