I just love it when the work takes an unexpected turn. As I told you in my last post, I was messing around with using blocks with wax impressions on them to do some fun printing. I was enjoying the surprises the print blocks left, but for anyone who follows this blog, you know what I love most is painting, so? a painting I went - it took the most unexpected turn - all light and lacy and looking so different from my normal palette - I didn't even try to force my normal palette onto the surface - I just went where the paint told me to go and the photo below shows the final product. I added some bees wax early on. I have left my header because that shows a detail of the bones of this piece.
mixed media with bees wax on paper, 19x24, 'The Locked Box'
The weekend looms with Christmas preparations all around us....have the best one ever and I will see you next week!

wispy, like fog rolling in. It has all your interesting texturing and markings but such a soft palette.
Have a great weekend and enjoy all the Seasons fun!
Jeane, have you seen the book "How to Wrap 5 Eggs"? It shows images of organic Japanese wrapping. "The Locked Box" has that same organic quality. Love the closeup on your header! Have a great week.
Very, very intriguing and beautiful. You have a good inner painter. I'm glad you're following its lead.
Frosty like the weather....nice and relaxed and a turn in the palette ...very nice Jeane
Fantastic painting!
Jeane, this has a wonderful texture and tactile quality. I hard to take a closer look to see the marks...they look so fiber, fabric like. lovely.
Great bones! The tones of color are so luminous...I sure like this one.
I think this turned out great! You should be very happy with it! Fantastic work! :)
god you work is amazing. you have to exhibit in australia sometime, im dying to see it in the flesh
hello Bren, thank you - yes, wispy for sure, you too!
Hi Carole, no, I haven't, sounds interesting and I will take a look, thank you so much :)
thanks Melinda - as you know, that inner painter knows much more then I do for sure - it's paying attention to it that is the hard part, xo
good morning Karin, thank you - been watching your venture into oil paints - with all that richness comes a price - waiting!!!! took me awhile to give into that drying process, but as you know, I paint wet on wet, so for me it wasn't too big a leap xo
thank you Art, so happy you came by :)
textiles are a passion of mine Henrietta, so that texture in my work is something I always strive for on an unconscious level, thank you :)
thank you Mary Ann - the block printing pushed me in a different direction xo
Hi Deb, thank you, glad you came by :)
good morning James, wouldn't that be a hoot, me in Australia - thank you - who knows what the future has in store - have been watching your growing success - many congratulations :)
I love going where the paint (or in my case the camera) leads me .. it led me here .. and I love this piece .. but then I cant think of anything you've done that I dont xo
This painting has such a lovely muted quality, very mysterious and inspiring.Would love to see your work in real!

Hello Jeane! I love your style and the way you do color and texture...wow!
I read your post about Moo in Nov too. I have heard of this company several times now...I will have to check them out.

good morning Maggie, thank you!!hope all is well in your world xo
So happy to stumble upon you. I enjoyed reading about your process and, of course, really enjoyed your artwork. What type of paper are you working on?Love the feel of your work. Thanks! Julie
its amazing! every-time I stop by there is something wonderful going on. I love those oval egg/bones, the suggestion of structure that is almost negated by the palette and wispy texture
hello Julie, thank you so much, glad you found your way here - this is bristol paper - it can take alot of whatever I deal out :)
thank you Deb, so happy you stopped by - this is a bit of a departure for me, but my palette seems to be in transition as my surfaces grow more complex :)
