Another helpmate I bought this week to help me squeeze every last bit of paint out of my tubes is this little 'tube wringer'!! Worth every penny - it will pay for itself in just a couple of weeks for sure! If you don't have one, get it!!
Like most of you, squeezing studio time into this time of year can be pretty hit and miss. I've had several really good afternoons and continue to learn more and more about this cold wax medium. Today I used the dry pigments in the wax and really liked it!! The painting below I finished this afternoon. It is a rework of a painting that I really didn't like or more true, a painting I didn't really connect with. This finished work I feel very connected to.
oil, wax, dry pigments on panel, 24x24, 'After She Stopped Counting the Steps'
ps - the header is a detail of the above painting.....

I love your work, such beautiful colors and textures!
I have been doing encaustic for a short while, and just started cold wax. I am already register on 'oil and wax' a great website.
love this one, Jeane! I must say I am favouring these colours, these earthy tones, these days.
I bought some earth pigments a while ago, and while I love the cold wax I have to find something that loves me back. Both the regular cold wax and the orange oil one have odours that my body doesn't tolerate well.
Happy new year and thanks for all your enthusiasm and inspiration this year!
I am an encaustic painter, and I want to try this medium. Your work is beautiful! Thanks for the post.

I say I like all color but this particular shade with texture touches my heart...beautiful! Glad you are finding little places of studio time...see you 2013!
Such a good feeling to rework a piece you didn't like into something so beautiful, rich and earthy. I'm feeling the connection too.
Have a great weekend, Jeane.
