cruising by......

Cruising by to say hello! Things here are sharing space with holiday 'ado'. It's dark and cold and wet with a dash of snow, twinkle lights, cups of tea, coffee with whipping cream, hot chocolate, hearty soups, warm scarves, gloves, fingerless and regular, friends, family, morning fires, night fires, soft, soft lighting, deep, deep sleep, frost, bare branches, low slung sun, high tides, rough water, and painting - lots of painting. The painting below I finished this week. This is another one started over a month ago. It didn't want to resolve, so kept vigil until it finally said okay!

oil and wax on panel, 24x36, 'Her Very Own Serious Thought'

Hope this finds you all enjoying the season..... I'll be back here next week sometime, until then, Peace to Everyone...

Sounds cozy over your way Jeane. Your painting is stunning...loving the deep maroon/red...AND the title.

Merry Christmas!

Oh, Jeane - all of the above!!! The softness, lavender skeins of knitting and the deep snow and the deep wine and the evergreen and the precious wintry blue-grey light. Best holiday wishes to you.

You included just about all that winter means and then some. I love your words about this painting..."It didn't want to resolve, so I kept vigil until it finally said okay" A pure place of art making...Winter Blessings Jeane!

good morning Lisa, thank you - and yes, staying cozy makes the dark and cold so much nicer - snowing this morning so starting the day by the fire with a large cup of cream filled coffee!! xox

the very best holiday wished to you too Amber!! love your take on the painting and I have to say you are very intuitive in your interpretation, love it!! you keep knocking me dead with your style savvy! :))

Winter Blessings to you also Mary Ann!!! oh, this painting kept me away because I truly loved the underpainting - I knew it wasn't complete but I wanted to enjoy that first layer, so I did and then I was able to do the work!! xoxo

good morning Anca, thank you for the deep hearty sigh - it's the same response I have when I look at your work!! :))

Lovely winter post. I think your painting is my favorite of all I've ever "seen" of yours. So much going on and yet the very quiet space. So glad I looked in.

Hi Jeane, your painting reflects the business of the season but has spaces of calm. I love that about it.
Have a wonderful time in these days ahead. Peace to you too!

Same to you Carole, thank you - it's such a reflective time of year, no? - it's how so many of us walk the planet during this time - rush, rush, rush and then quiet by the fire xoxo

hello Julie, thank you so much, so happy you stopped by, happy holidays :))

Merry Christmas to you also Robin!! - thank you - these paintings kind of make themselves - the artist just opens the door and lets them out - :))

Love those velvety darks and the chalky whites you find that always remind me of what's beneath this area where I live. You've listed all the things I would want you to have for Christmas, but especially the last thing you list. Keep painting!! Happy holidays. Ax

It sounds like heaven. We are smoldering again today and I could do with a dash of snow. Your painting makes me think of the coziness of Winter ... warm colours conrasting with the white.
Happy Christmas Jeane!

good morning Annie, thank you so much!! and painting is definitely ongoing - I have a feeling of NEW! new space, new representation, new opportunities presenting themselves - new ventures for 2013 and underneath it all the work - pushing deeper into the work - the very very best to you in the coming year xo

it's always so hard for me to remember that you are in the delicious summer months I so love Robyn- albeit, smoldering isn't exactly the best part of summer, no? ah, but he light, so love the light!! here is just starting to get light and I type by the fire with black black coffee covered in whipping cream - have the best of the best of holidays xoxo
